North Berwick 1893 Life Association of Scotland Calendar by Michael Brown

Original 1893 Life Association of Scotland calendar featuring the artwork of Michael Brown. This calendar depicts North Berwick. 

In 1892 the Life Association of Scotland Insurance company began to commission a series of calendars, these consisted of one specially commissioned image each year and continued until 1912, the first three being published in colour. Michael Brown a well known portrait/landscape artist was chosen for this work. Each scene was a golfing subject, always of a famous course and often including be most well known players and characters of the day.

The first two (the first being St Andrews) and this second North Berwick, are extremely scarce, and almost never come to the market, particularly in a collector condition.
