"Old Tom Morris" c1910s, Unknown Artist

Likely painted in the later years of Old Tom Morris’ life (died 1908), or perhaps in the wake of his death. Large, impressive painting of The Grand Old Man of Golf. Despite there being numerous photographs of Old Tom Morris taken during his life, there are a scant few paintings. Large oil paintings were simply not often commissioned for working class men like Tom Morris - no matter how famous he became during his lifetime.
